Research. Rumplestiltskin- other animations

I've done some research into some previous tellings of the Rumpelstiltskin story in animation form. I have found that many of the animations are quite old and almost all of them are in 2D traditional animation. Because of this, I think a more modern, stop motion version of this story would be interesting and an enjoyable approach.

There are a few different tellings of the story, none of the ones I have found are completely true to the original gory version of the story where Rumpelstiltskin tears himself in two at the end when they found out his name. All the animated versions of the story are more kid friendly than what I intend to do as I plan to make mine dark and creepy.

Some of the versions show the straw being spun into gold thread, whilst others show the straw being spun into actual solid gold items like swords or coins. This has given me some ideas for how I will tackle this and I will be considering which would be the best option for my animation.

Another thing I found interesting about these three animations is that they have all created a more stylised version of Rumpelstiltskin. In the story they describe him as a little man, and I was intending to instead make him a goblin character. These animations show Rumpelstiltskin in various degrees from human to goblin, making him a more interesting and strange character and reinforcing my idea to make him a goblin character.
